About

Hello! My name is Sloane Primiano and I am currently a Film, Video, and Animation Sophomore with a specific interest in animation at the Rhode Island School of Design BFA 2027. I am based in Los Angeles because that is where I was born and raised but during the school year I live in Providence.I started posting my art on social media when I was 13 years old and growing up online allowed me to understand how trends and current topics work. It taught me how to create art/cartoons that I enjoyed making but would also garner an audience. In my senior year of High school in 2023, I went on to make the short film "Kachinas in Space" which inspired by my Choctaw heritage and interest in all things silly and supernatural. This film would win me "Best Animated Short Film" at the Grand Arts Media Academy 7th Annual Grand Arts Film Festival. Kachinas in Space would also be nominated for "Best Animated Short Film" at the Los Angeles SKINS festival hosted by the Native American Media Alliance.During the Summer of 2024, I attended the Native Media apprenticeship program with the Native American Media Alliance as announced in a DEADLINE article by Valerie Complex. At this program I was given the incredible opportunity to meet other Native youth who were working to get into the film industry. The program allowed us to have zoom discussions and Q&A's with people currently working in the industry on shows such as American Dad and The Great North.Currently I am taking Animation classes at RISD while working part time at the Empowerment Factory as a Videographer/Editor. The Empowerment Factory is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping Providence youth from under resourced Title 1 Elementary Schools. We offer arts and crafts events and classes for families to connect as well as community cleanups. My role at the Empowerment Factory is to film their events and edit them on Adobe Premiere for their social media.
